At first, Haworthia Chocolate likes bright indirect light. It can tolerate morning direct sunlight but direct sunlight afternoons will scorch its thin leaves. Placing it near a shaded window or a semi-balcony with an open window is ideal. When light or yellow leaves are seen, then most likely it receives too much sunlight, so put it slightly more shaded.

Unlike other indoor plants, Haworthia Chocolate needs less water. Due to the new Indian climate, watering must be seasonal. Water every 7–10 days during summer but only after allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. During monsoon seasons, water even less to avoid root rot because too much water is not healthy. Winter, on the other hand, requires every two weeks watering with little water to keep the plant alive.

Fertilization of Haworthia Chocolate with a balanced succulent fertilizer at half the strength recommended at monthly intervals during the growing season (spring and summer) encourages healthy growth. Fertilize not in winter, however, as the plant is dormant. Also, removal of dead or damaged leaves contributes to beauty and overall health of the plant. Regular inspection for pests such as mealybugs and early control of infestations with neem oil ensures pest-free status of the plant.
