Sparaxis White Bicolor Planting Sparaxis Bulbs
- Choose a Sunnny Spot – Sunnny Spot flowers love the sun. Choose a spot in your yard that gets six hours of sun per day.
- Prepare the Ground – The ground needs to drain well so that the bulbs do not rot. If your ground is heavy, add some sand or compost to the ground.
- Plant the Bulbs – Plant bulbs 2 inches (5 cm) deep and 3 inches (8 cm) apart. The pointed end is up.
- Water Gently – Water lightly after planting. Water as normal but not too much.
Sparaxis White Bicolor Taking Care of Sparaxis
- Watering – Water them once or twice a week, especially in hot weather.
- Fertilizing – Weak fertilizer in the early spring will toughen them up.
- Weeding – Remove weeds from amongst the plants so they won’t rob the nutrients from the bulbs.
- After Flowering – Never touch the leaves once they turn yellow. This will allow the bulbs to build up energy for next year’s flowering.
- Where to Grow Sparaxis
- Sparaxis is especially well suited to container, border, and bed planting. Dig up the bulbs in autumn and dry them in a cold place indoors if you have a frosty garden, until spring.
- The Harlequin Flower is named for the strongly mottled color of the flower, which is like a harlequin’s mask.
- Sparaxis is attractive to bees and butterflies and is thus well-suited to a wildlife garden.
- It reaches 12 inches (30 cm) in height.
- Their attractive colours and ease of maintenance make Sparaxis flowers a lovely addition to any garden. Plant them and watch how nice they appear year in, year out!
