How to Plant Pentas Butterfly Rose Deep from Pelleted Seeds

Starting Seeds Indoors
To have an early start, plant pentas seeds indoors 8 to 10 weeks before the date of the last frost. Start with filling a seed tray with a well-draining good-quality potting mix. Pentas Butterfly Rose Deep Due to the pelleted seeds’ coating on the outside, the seeds need to be wet first before they will break. Just press them into the soil surface, but do not seed them. Pentas seeds need light in order to germinate.

When the seedlings are 3 to 4 inches tall and the threat of frost has passed, they can be transplanted outside. Plant them where they will receive sunlight and drainage. Spade compost into the soil prior to planting to give the plants a nutritional boost.
Finally, prick small holes 12 to 18 inches apart and softly place each seedling into them. Water the seedlings generously after transplanting to aid acclimation. Plant them on a cloudy day or late afternoon to avoid transplant shock.
