Notocactus Ottonis Tenebrosus The plant has firm ribs that go vertically down its body, usually 9-12 in quantity. A sequence of areoles, which are spaced evenly, on each rib develops spines in a sequential manner. As long as 0.8 inches (2 cm) is the spine at the center, and radiating spines are symmetrically placed.

Early summer and early spring witness the cactus bearing lovely, dainty bright yellow flowers. They are 2-3 inches (5-7.5 cm) wide and are typically in clusters, topping the plant as a beautiful sight. They last for a few days and are quite lovely enough to attract a lot of pollinators with their sight.

Notocactus ottonis var. tenebrosus occurs naturally in southern Brazil, Uruguay, and northern Argentina. It thrives well in rocky soil in these areas and can handle full sun and half shade. The plant can handle different weather conditions very well but requires protection from extreme cold.
