To grow a golden  cactus, you’ll require fresh seeds. You can purchase them from the web or harvest them from the mature plant. If you are harvesting from an adult plant, let them dry first before planting.

Golden Barrel Seeds cacti prefer well-draining soil. Sand, perlite, and potting soil are the ideal combination. Plant them in a shallow pot with holes to drain the soil. Water the soil lightly prior to planting.

Now, place the seeds on the surface of the ground. Don’t cover them since they require light to grow. Now, gently press them into the ground. Cover the pot with clear plastic or a glass lid to retain water.

Place the pot in a sunny, warm spot but not in direct sunlight. Water will cause the seeds to germinate if maintained at 70–80°F (21–27°C). Monitor the soil from time to time to maintain it moist but not soggy.

It may take from a few weeks to a few months. Wait patiently! As soon as the tiny seedlings appear, remove the plastic covering gradually. Place them in indirect but bright light.

When the seedlings are a little older, water them gently. Water sparingly between waterings to prevent rotting. Pot them in small pots of cactus potting soil as they mature.

Once the young cacti are one year old, they will be healthy enough to be transplanted into a bigger pot. Select a pot that has a hole at the bottom. They will develop their round shape.
