Adenium Super Red, also known as desert rose, is a beautiful flowering plant. It blooms with red flowers and a fleshy, puffy stem. It’s a long process to cultivate from seed, but it’s easy to do so. You can have a healthy, robust plant with patience and care.

Firstly Start with fresh, good-quality seeds. Fresh seeds germinate rapidly and grow faster. Buy them from a good dealer to get good yields. Old seeds will not germinate, so inspect the date before planting.

Adenium seeds need to be exposed to light and need draining soil. Combine perlite, sand, and potting soil. It will prevent water from pooling inside the pot and causing the roots to rot. Shallow trays or pots will work best when sprouting the seeds.

Sow seeds on the soil surface. Lightly press the seeds into the soil but avoid planting them deeply. Dust the seeds with light soil or sand. Water extremely lightly to wet the soil without making it moist.

Place the tray in a sunny, warm location. Adenium seeds need 75–85°F (24–29°C) temperatures to sprout. Use plastic wrap to cover the tray if air is dry to trap humidity. In 7–14 days, tiny seedlings will emerge.

After the seeds have sprouted, take off the covering and put them into light. Provide them with a grow light or put them by a sunny window. Water when the soil has dried to the top inch. Overwatering will rot them, so allow the soil to dry a bit between waterings.

Water well but allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Too much water will cause root rot. Fertilize with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2–3 weeks to encourage healthy plant growth. Water less during winter as the plant is dormant at this time.
