There’s early…and then there’s Double the Sun! This bright variety is 2 to 3 weeks earlier than our Early Sunrise and other comparable varieties earlier in the season. In Summer, it finishes 1 to 2 weeks earlier. Get this favourite perennial class into the store before any other compact, semi-double yellow Coreopsis.

- Semi-double, clear golden yellow flowers are the same large, 2.5-in./6-cm size as SunKiss and Early Sunrise, and bigger than Sunfire.
- Great controlled habit with strong flowering.
- Ideal for quart and 1-gallon production in Spring and Summer with 13-hour critical daylength.
Coreopsis Double the Sun 1. Gather Supplies:
- Coreopsis seeds
- Well-draining potting mix or seed starting mix
- Seed trays or small containers with drainage holes
- Plastic wrap or a clear plastic dome
- Grow lights or a sunny location
- Watering can or spray bottle
Coreopsi 2. Sowing Coreopsis Seeds:
- Fill seed trays or small containers with the seed starting mix or potting soil.
- Moisten the soil evenly before planting the seeds.
- Sprinkle the Coreopsis seeds on the surface of the soil. Lightly press them down, but do not cover them with soil, as they require light to germinate.
3. Watering:
- Water the soil gently using a fine spray nozzle or a spray bottle. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
4. Germination:
- Place the seed trays in a warm location with indirect sunlight or use grow lights. Coreopsis seeds typically germinate in 10 to 15 days.
- Once the seeds germinate, remove the plastic covering to promote air circulation.
5. Light and Temperature:
- Provide bright, indirect light or grow lights for the seedlings. Maintain a temperature between 60°F to 70°F (15°C to 21°C) for optimal growth.
6. Transplanting:
- When the Coreopsis seedlings have developed a couple of true leaves, transplant them into individual pots or larger containers.
- Handle the seedlings carefully to avoid damaging the roots.
7. Outdoor Planting:
- Once the seedlings are well-established and the danger of frost has passed, transplant them into the garden. Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil.
8. Care and Maintenance:
- Water the Coreopsis regularly, especially during dry periods. Once established, they are somewhat drought-tolerant.
- Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming and a tidy appearance.
- Fertilize with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season.
