Zinnia Swizzle Scarlet Yellow Ideal Growing Conditions
- Sunlight: These zinnias require sun. Six to eight hours a day of direct sunlight will provide maximum growth and color.
- Soil: A draining soil. Zinnias will thrive in a great diversity of soils, but richest and loosest is ideal.
- Watering: Frequently water but never overwater. Letting soil dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot and fungal infection.
- Fertilizer: Ordinary slow-release general-purpose fertilizer to promote good growth. But lower in nitrogen content, so it does not grow leafy with fewer flowers.
- Spacing: Planting the zinnias 8 to 12 inches apart promotes aeration and prevents infection such as powdery mildew.
Pest and Disease Management
- Flower Borders and Beds: Owing to their bright hue, they are most appropriate in garden landscapes.
- Containers and Pots: Owing to the fact that they are small, they are most appropriate for use on balconies, patios, and restricted areas.
- Cut Flowers: Owing to the fact that they are provided with firm stems and large blooms, they are best suited cut flowers to be placed in arrangements.
- Pollinator Gardens: Zinnias are a bee and butterfly magnet and are therefore most apt for pollinator gardens.
