2.Tomato Jumbo Indoor Seeds
- Pot the seeds: Sow the seeds in seed trays or pots. Fill with a good seed-starting mix, one that is light and airy for seed development.
- Plant the seeds: Plant the seeds around 1/4 inch deep. Leave space between the seeds to develop. Cover the seeds with a light coating of soil.
- Water very lightly: Water the seeds lightly when planted. Make the soil damp but not soggy. Don’t allow too much water or seeds will rot. Use a pot with drainage holes.
- Wear it out: Tomatoes require heat to germinate. Place your pots in a sunny spot, such as in front of a window or heating vent. Maintain temperatures of 70-80°F (21-27°C). This will make the seeds germinate in 5-10 days.
3. Tomato Jumbo Giving Light
Once the seeds have germinated, they will require a lot of light to acclimate. You can supplement with grow lights if you do not receive much sunlight in your home. The tomato plants will require at least 12-16 hours of light daily. If you receive natural sunlight, ensure the plants receive it for over half a day.
4. Tomato Jumbo Transplanting the Seedlings
- Watering: Tomatoes require a great deal of water, particularly when they bear fruit. Load them with loads of water but do not ever wet the leaves. Wet leaves transmit diseases. Water in the mornings to prevent fungus.
- Fertilizing: Use water that has a tomato fertilizer with high nutrient content. This will keep the plants healthy and promote fruit yield. Fertilize from time to time.
- Supporting the plants: Since Jumbo tomatoes are quite large, they can be supported. You can put stakes or tomato cages inside to hold the supporting in position so that the plant will not fall down. This will avoid breaking of the branches because of the weight of the large tomatoes.
