Laal Saag Seeds
1. Seed Selection
Choose good quality laal saag seeds from a trusted source. Amaranth seeds are tiny, so handle them carefully.
2. Prepare the Soil
Firstly Laal saag thrives in well-drained, fertile soil rich in organic matter. Laal saaf can also be grown same with petunia
Dig and loosen the soil to a depth of about 6 inches. Mix in compost or well-rotted manure for nutrients and good drainage.
3. Laal Saag Seeds Sowing the Seeds
Direct Sowing:
Firstly Spread the seeds thinly over the prepared soil surface. The seeds are very small, so you don’t have to bury them deep.
Just gently cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil or compost, about 1/4 inch.
Spacing:
If sowing in rows, space the rows about 10-12 inches apart.
4. Laal Saag Seeds Watering
Water the soil gently but thoroughly after sowing.
Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Use a fine spray to avoid disturbing the tiny seeds.
5. Sunlight & Temperature
Laal saag prefers warm weather and plenty of sunlight. It grows best in temperatures between 18-30°C (65-85°F).
Choose a spot that gets 6-8 hours of sunlight per day.
6. Laal Saag Seeds Thinning
Once the seedlings are around 2-3 inches tall, thin them if they are too close to each other. You want about 4-6 inches of space between each plant so that they have ample room to grow.
7. Fertilization
Amaranth does not need much fertilization if the soil is rich; however, adding a balanced fertilizer (like 10-10-10) every 3-4 weeks can help your amaranth grow better.
8. Laal Saag Seeds Harvesting
Lastly Laal saag is ready for harvest in almost 25 to 40 days, depending upon the variety. You can either collect young leaves from time to time or pull the whole plant, when it becomes mature. By cutting the leaves, leaving their base, a plant will come up again with continuous harvests also.
