Begonia Bulbs Start Indoors For Best Blooms

If you don’t have good natural light, grow lamps can provide the necessary light for growth. Water slightly every few days, or when the soil has dried out. How long do begonias take to grow from bulbs?

Begonias generally take from 12 to 15 weeks to bloom and will then will keep blooming until the season ends. For earlier blooming, plant your tubers indoors in pots about six weeks before the last frost date in your area. Begonias need warm, well-drained soil and a spot that is shaded and out of any drafts/wind.

Avoid overwatering or soggy soil, as water can pool in the tuber’s hollow dip and cause rot.

The bulbs germinated, but did not survive early summer in Kolkata, even though kept in partial shade. Seems like Seeds n pots copy instructions from US/European growing conditons.

These are begonia semperflorens bulbs. The picture is of begonia tuberose which is hard to get. I can buy a semperflorens fully grown plant at half the price of the bulbs. Super disappointed.
