Bhut Jolokia Seeds (Ghost Pepper)
Bhut Jolokia, also known as Ghost Pepper, is one of the world’s hottest chilli varieties. Native to Northeast India, especially Assam and Nagaland, this famous chilli produces wrinkled fruits that mature from green to bright red and deliver intense heat along with a smoky flavour.
The plants grow vigorously in warm weather and perform exceptionally well in containers, terrace gardens, polyhouses, and kitchen gardens. Under proper care, Bhut Jolokia plants can produce dozens of chillies throughout the growing season.
At Seedsnpots, we recommend sowing Bhut Jolokia seeds during spring and early summer when temperatures remain between 24°C and 32°C. Warm conditions help improve germination and support healthy plant growth.

Start seeds in a well-draining seed-starting mix. Sow seeds about 0.5 cm deep and keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Place the tray in a warm location where temperatures remain above 25°C.
Once seedlings develop 3–4 true leaves, transplant them into larger pots or directly into the garden. Choose a location that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
Feed plants regularly with a balanced vegetable fertilizer and water whenever the top layer of soil begins to dry.
Growing Tips
- Maintain warm temperatures for better fruit production.
- Avoid overwatering.
- Use rich, well-draining soil.
- Support mature plants with stakes if heavily loaded with fruits.
