Lemon Basil Seeds Growing Tips, Tricks and FAQs
Growing Tips
Lemon basil thrives in warm, sunny environments with at least 8-12 hours of direct sunlight daily. Hence It grows best in nutrient-rich, well-draining soil with a pH of 6.0-7.5. This heat-loving plant is highly sensitive to cold, so avoid exposing it to temperatures below 50 F. Prune regularly and remove flowers as they appear to help prolong the plant’s productivity and enhance the flavor of the leaves.Dill seeds shares same weather conditions
When to Grow
Lemon Basil Seeds Start Lemon basil seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date in your area, then transplant them into the garden once all danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed up. In regions with mild winters or long growing seasons, seeds can be directly sown outdoors after the last frost date. Proper timing is very important, as Lemon Basil prefers warm conditions and won’t survive cold temperatures.
How to Sow and Plant
Lastly, To start Lemon basil indoors, sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in seed trays filled with light, well-draining seed-starting mix. Maintain soil temperatures between 70-85 F for germination. Set out seedlings at any size, when warm conditions have arrived. Space them 8-12 inches apart in the garden to ensure adequate airflow also. Harden off seedlings to prevent transplant shock. Keep soil consistently moist during germination and early growth.
