Chilli Kashmiri are famous for their rich red color and medium spiciness. You can grow them from seeds easily if you do. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to grow healthy Kashmiri chili plants at home.

Purchase fresh Kashmiri chili seeds from a reputable trader. Fresh seeds will germinate easily. Dry Kashmiri chilies can be used if fresh ones are not available; deseed them and use them.

Choose a potting mix that drains well and garden soil, compost, and sand mixture. Chilies can be cultivated in slightly acidic to neutral soil of pH 6.0-7.0. Root development is best suited in rich and light soil.

Chilli Kashmiri Sow small pots or trays of pre-treated soil. Sow seeds ¼ inch deep and just cover with soil. Water slowly so that the soil is moist but not soggy.

Place the pots in a warm, indirect sunlight location. Kashmiri chili seeds need 70°F to 85°F (21°C to 29°C) to germinate. Keep low moisture soil levels at all times.

Seeds will take 7-14 days to germinate. After seedling growth, give them a sunny location that gets at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. If growing indoors, give them grow lights.

Hardened seedlings when 4-6 inches tall and 4-6 leaves long. Transplant them into bigger pots or directly into the ground. Plant them 18 inches apart.

Water them loosely and not heavily so that they won’t be able to take it. Water the ground and not so much that it becomes waterlogged. Fertilize using balanced fertilizer or organic compost every 2 to 3 weeks for maximum growth.

Flowers will develop in 2-3 months. They turn into chilies within a few weeks. Support the plant if necessary.
