Cultivation Advice
- Firstly Mirabilis Red Yellow Sow from Feb onwards, on the surface of a good well-draining damp seed compost and lightly cover, preferably with vermiculite.
- Germinate at 64-68F. Place in a propagator or seal in a polythene bag to maintain moisture.
- Mirabilis Red red-yellow germination can be slow at 14-21 days.
- Excess moisture, deep sowing or low temperatures will cause seeds to rot.
- A good companion of marigold orange
- Transplant seedlings into individual pots to grow on when large enough to handle and grow on in cooler well-ventilated conditions.
- Plant out only after all danger of frost has passed.

Another plant may be attacked by aphids and slugs/snails but are generally disease-free.
Some people may get a rash from handling the plant so always wear gloves and cover their arms when working with the plants.
