How to Propagate Trichopsis from Seeds
Echinopsis hybrids or Trichopsis are beautiful cacti with beautiful flowers. They are difficult to grow with seeds since growing them takes patience and years but are easy and rewarding. Provided with good care, you will have healthy seedlings that will grow into striking and colorful plants.

1. Selecting and Preparing Seeds
Start with good, fresh seeds to maximize your success. Seeds can be bought at good stores or harvested from fully opened Echinopsis flowers. Seeds should be soaked in warm water for several hours for best results before planting. Soaking softens the seed coat and promotes germination.
2. The Ideal Soil
Cacti seeds need well-draining soil for seed germination to prevent root rot. Use the following:
- Cactus or succulent potting soil
- Sand or perlite for added drainage
- Organic matter, like coconut coir or compost
