MIMOSA PUDICA ACACIA – Ornamental perennial plant which produces numerous pale pink, pompom shaped flowers . Can be grown in containers or outside, but requires full sun and must be protected from winter cold. When the leaves are touched they will curl in toward the stalk. It’s popular name is the ‘Touch Sensitive Plant’, and the fine leaves are highly touch sensitive and almost instantly react to being touched by closing up. Children especially are fascinated by the effect. A mild warning that the main stems have a few sharp thorny barbs, so parental supervision is advised. After germinating under heat, can be grown indoors or outdoors during a British summer. Best treated as an annual.
